Transfer Rumour: Barnsley In Pursuit Of Norwich Striker

According to reports being circulated by 'The 72' Barnsley are claimed to be considering a January transfer move for Norwich City’s Carlton Morris who is currently out on loan at League One side MK Dons. In what is his second-straight loan spell at the club he has now netted five league goals in 26 appearances across the two loans.

A product of the Norwich City youth academy, Morris is seemingly unwanted at Carrow Road, and he could become available next month, having been sent out on loan a number of times during his career at the Championship promotion chasers.

He’s made just one Championship appearance since turning pro at the club ahead of the 2014/15 season, Morris remains a relatively unproven player though at Championship level– he’s spent time on loan at the likes of Rotherham United and Shrewsbury Town in the past, but has never come close to the Norwich City first-team.

Transfer Rumour: Norwich Interested In Norwegian Defender Fredrik Andre

Leeds, Newcastle and Norwich City are among a host of clubs interested in signing Bodo Glimt defender Fredrik Andre Bjorkan, according to reports published by TEAMtalk.

The 22-year-old has been a regular for Bodo Glimt over the past five years, making 83 appearances in all competitions for the Norwegian side.

This season, the left-back has made a total of 32 appearances for Bodo Glimt, who finished first in the Eliteserien table this term, and as a consequence he is now claimed to be attracting interest across Europe.

Celtic hare reported to have held talks with the left-back in the summer, but failed to wrap up a deal for the defender.

Leeds, Newcastle, Brighton, Bournemouth and Norwich have been credited with an interest, as the January transfer window looms.

Norwich have lacked depth at left-back this season, Jamal Lewis left Carrow Road for Newcastle in the summer, and Sam McCallum was allowed to join Coventry on loan.

Xavi Quintilla has endured a couple of frustrating injury issues along with young prospect Bali Mumba, meaning that Jacob Sorensen has had to fill in there.

Blackburn 1: 2 Norwich - Norwich Maintain 3 Point Lead Thanks To Pukki Double

Teemu Pukki scored twice as Norwich City maintained their impressive recent form and remained top of the Championship with victory away at Ewood Park.

The Finland international took his goal tally for the club to 50 in the process with one in each half, either side of Harvey Elliott's equaliser for Blackburn, on what was just his 100th appearance since joining 3 years ago.

His first was a neat turn and shot from Alex Tettey's pass to find the bottom left corner and his second saw him cleverly divert Emi Buendia's shot from outside the penalty area past a hapless Thomas Kaminski.

Earlier Rovers had pushed Norwich hard as Sam Gallagher crashed a thumping shot off the crossbar early in the second half before Liverpool loanee Elliott netted a superb goal from a solo run and finish off the right wing.

Following Saturday's victory Norwich remain three points clear at the top, ahead of second-placed Bournemouth after a third successive victory, and they travel to fifth-placed Reading on Wednesday having lost just once in their past 14 matches.

Pukki, who was named Championship player of the season in their promotion-winning season of 2018-19, has now scored nine times this campaign in 16 appearances.

At first, he appeared a touch fortunate to net the winner in this one, but replays showed he had displayed the awareness to open up his feet to steer Buendia's drive into the far corner away from the home keeper.

Blackburn are now without a win in their previous three games and were beaten at home for the first time in four fixtures at Ewood Park, with Tony Mowbray's side dropping to 12th in the league prior to a meeting with Rotherham on Wednesday.

Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray told BBC Radio Lancashire:

"I thought the team worked really hard, we created enough chances and we played against a good side of course, who created plenty of chances themselves.

"But, on the balance, I think we feel a little hard done by we didn't get anything out of it. Particularly in the second half, we looked the dominant side and after we scored, we looked like we could go on and win.

"Then out of noting they got themselves back ahead and it's frustrating more than anything for that to happen.

"Norwich are top of the table and we didn't look too far away. If anything we looked the better team."

Norwich City manager Daniel Farke told BBC Radio Norfolk:

"Blackburn we were expecting to be one of our toughest away games this season as especially offensively, they're an unbelievable threat.

"I'm pretty sure not many sides will come away from here with points, let alone three this season.

"It's a great win for us, a massive one, I'm pretty delighted and just full of massive compliments for the lads.

"It's a joy to be able to work with these lads every single day as they're not happy to settle for just a point and they worked hard to get back in the lead again."

On Teemu Pukki's 50 goals in 100 Norwich appearances: "That was one of his best performances today.

"Not just because of the two goals, but his work-rate, how many balls he won through his pressing, how many smart moves he made to open up space for his team-mates.

"He was always a threat coming forward.

"Of course, I don't have to speak about his goalscoring ability. It was Teemu Pukki at his best today and we can all be proud and delighted we have the best striker in the league in a yellow shirt."

Transfer News: Teemu Pukki Dismisses January Departure Talk

The Finnish striker was linked with moves away from Carrow Road in the summer but stayed with City to fight for a return to the top-flight. Pukki is once again a pivotal part of Daniel Farke's side.

Pukki has elected to state his commitment to the Canaries cause ahead of any speculation that emerges during next month's transfer window.

“I’ve no plans for leaving in January. I’m fighting for this team and we’ve got a big season going on," Pukki said ahead of making his 100th appearance for the club.

“I want to go back into the Premier League and I’m fighting for that.”

Pukki has scored seven goals in 15 games and has recaptured his goalscoring form after a difficult spell in the Premier League last season. A hamstring injury has halted his goalscoring form, but the Finn is now fit again and will be hoping to score the goals required to help City gain promotion.

Despite a blistering start to life in the top-flight, a toe injury and a loss of form contributed to the Finn enduring a barren run in front of goal in the second half of the season.

“There were a lot of things. As a team we didn’t create the same amount of chances and, personally, my confidence levels were down after not scoring after so many games.

“Up until January-February time, we were playing good football – but just couldn’t get the points. Whenever we went behind, we just couldn’t turn the games around," Pukki told the Sun.

“After the corona break, we didn’t score as many goals. It was a tough time, personally and as a team. We weren’t able to raise our level at the end of the season.

“We couldn’t compete in the end at that level – because in the Premier League mistakes made are exploited because there is more quality.”

The Canaries currently sit at the summit of Championship having recorded 10 victories in their opening 17 matches. Pukki doesn't feel like City have reached top gear yet but is pleased to see an improvement in their defensive efforts.

“For sure, I don’t think we’ve shown our best yet. In some moments we have. There have been some tough games where we’ve got the winner in the end.

“We’ve been having a lot of injuries. Hopefully we’ll get our boys back soon.

“Our defenders have been brilliant, the keeper as well. If you compare this season to the one when we went up, we conceded a lot of goals but were scoring a lot of goals as well.

“This time we’ve had a lot of 1-0 victories. If you want to compete at this level you need to be secure at the back. That’s been working well.”

Norwich City: Team (And Injury) News For Blackburn Trip

Noriwich City head coach Daniel Farke was delighted to be able to tell Norwich City fans today that he has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the club’s trip to Blackburn on Saturday.

City have no fresh injuries following the 2-1 home win over Nottingham Forest on Wednesday that pushed them three points clear at the top of the Championship, with Todd Cantwell and Kenny McLean returning from injury as substitutes during the win.

"No news - and that means good news for us!” joked Farke. “All of the players who were involved in the game on Wednesday are also available, so no new injury concerns.

"That is good news because we had a few players with us who were there with just one training session, and each and every day with each training session that they can have right now helps them.

"So good to have three additional days, two days of training for Todd, Kenny, Jordan Hugill and Kieran Dowell."

City number one Tim Krul (thigh) could return to Farke’s squad at Reading next Wednesday and midfielder Lukas Rupp (hamstring) is hoping to be in contention for the home clash with Cardiff the following Saturday, while defender Ben Gibson (calf) and winger Przemek Placheta (hamstring) are hoping to be back before the trip to Watford on Boxing Day

As the treatment room clears out that leaves full-backs Sam Byram (hamstring) and Bali Mumba (knee) and winger Onel Hernandez (groin) targeting January returns and striker Adam Idah (knee) hoping to be back in February.

Left-back Xavi Quintilla continues to work on the persistent hip problem which has kept him out for 10 games and had returned to Spain for treatment at parent club Villarreal but it’s unclear when he will be able to return.

Farke added: "It is another week for Lukas Rupp so I expect him to maybe be a topic for the Cardiff game and the same more or less with Tim Krul.

"I'm very sure that he is available for the Cardiff game, there is still a good chance that he is also involved in the Reading game - but it is a bit too soon to speak about. They both can't feature."

Christoph Zimmermann and Josh Martin came in for the injured Gibson and Placheta against Forest and Farke is thrilled to have Cantwell, McLean, Hugill and Dowell back in contention – with Cantwell setting up Buendia’s winner during his late cameo.

“In general it was crazy to have these four players back on the bench, just one training session. The days between the games help each and every player,” he continued.

“For Kieran Dowell it was more like to have him back after three months was for the mood, to give him a boost, for the absolute emergency case.

“Right now he is back in training and he starts to become an option, not for 90 minutes but for a short-term cameo.

“The same with Jordan Hugill, he wasn’t out for that long, which is quite good as he didn’t lose that much in terms of his endurance and strength – but it was a bit risky with his shoulder.

“The physios and doctors recommended to be a bit more patient with him, so the three days will be good for him.

“It’s a bit different with Todd and Kenny because they were not out as long as, for example, Kieran Dowell.

“Todd was out for three weeks and it’s not enough to be back for one day and then be involved in the game. Kenny the same, was out for four weeks, and after just one training session to come on the pitch is not normal.

“But we got the feeling that we had a bit of a special situation in terms of injuries and I was pleased to have them available.

“For example, Kenny McLean’s maturity and physicality, also during his apperance on the pitch he won many duels, headers and second balls.

“Also Todd I thought he looked quite sharp for the 15 minutes, he was involved in the goal, this is a boost for his confidence and his rhythm.

“We were waiting a long time until he was there with an assist, so I think quite good for him.

“It’s not like they are ready after being back for four days to deliver over 90 minutes in each and every moment, they are not fully back in their rhythm, but each and every day helps them.

“They’re becoming more and more reliable, also a really good option for our game, and I’m pretty delighted with this.”

With the injury crisis starting to ease and just one defeat in 13 games, Farke is really pleased with the spirit in his squad at the moment.

"In general we have a fantastic mood in the dressing room and a great team spirit, great togetherness and camaraderie,” the German explained.

"This is special, even with the players who are not always involved or are injured and can't help us on the pitch. It's quite important that they are not running around moody, that they are there and support the team.

"I also have to give lots of credit to the new signings, how quickly they adapted to this group and also brought absolutely positive spirit to this group.

"It's outstanding. Jordan Hugill and Ben Gibson are a bit the kick that we needed. So this positivity is fantastic and this is what you need when you are in perhaps different periods during the season, sometimes performance-wise, although this was not so much a topic for us.

"But difficult situations in terms of injuries, for example, I think that helped us to go through those periods and if we can maintain this togetherness and camaraderie it will also help us in the next games when still some key players will be out.

"It seems like there is a bit of a light at the end of the tunnel, some players are back now. It's definitely good news and it seems like the worst is definitely behind us."

Max Aarons Wins EFL Young Player of the Month Award

Max Aarons has won the EFL Young Player of the Month award for November

The right-back recently made his 100th appearance for Norwich City at the age of 20 when he started Wednesday’s 2-1 win at home to Nottingham Forest.

He also scored his fourth goal for the club at the start of December in our 2-1 win at home to Sheffield Wednesday.

Speaking to the EFL, Aarons said: “I’m delighted to win Young Player of the Month. It’s been a great start to the season, the team is doing very well, we’re up there competing at the top of the table and it’s nice to receive personal recognition for my performances as well. Things are looking good so far.

“When I look at my all-round game now, compared to that first year that I played in the Championship just two seasons ago, I’m a different player.

“I feel much more accomplished as a player, I feel more comfortable on the pitch and on the ball and I feel more well-rounded as a player having faced some of the best players in the world last season.

“I don’t judge myself on my age anymore, I judge myself on the number of appearances I’ve made and how long I’ve been at the club. It’s a responsibility for me to have an influence on the team and to behave as a more senior player.

“I like being vocal, that’s one thing I’ve always had in my game, so it’s good that I now have the first-team experience to back that up on the pitch.”

Norwich Open Up 3 Point Lead At Top Of Table With 2-1 Win At Home To Forest

Norwich City recorded back-to-back victories with a 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night.

Jacob Sorensen his first City goal on the stroke of half-time with a fierce effort after Forest failed to clear a cross.

Anthony Knockaert's cross-cum-shot saw the visitors equalise on 72 minutes but City regained their advantage when Emi Buendia's deflected effort wrongfooted Brice Samba to make it 2-1.

They held on in the closing stages to secure a tenth league victory this season and strengthen their position at the top of the Sky Bet Championship in the process.

Daniel Farke named two changes to his starting eleven from Saturday’s win over Sheffield Wednesday, with Christoph Zimmermann and Josh Martin coming in to replace the injured Ben Gibson and Przemyslaw Placheta.

There were welcome sights on the bench for the Canaries, with Jordan Hugill, Kieran Dowell, Todd Cantwell and Kenny McLean all returning.

Usual start from City dictating the play in possession. Patience forced Sow into a rash challenge on six minutes, leading to City being awarded with a free kick in a dangerous position, but Mario Vrancic curled over.

City started to up the ante around ten minutes in, with Vrancic sending a stinging drive straight at Forest goalkeeper Brice Samba and Emi Buendia then having a shot defletced wide off Teemu Pukki.

City continued their dominance with the ball throughout the first-half, but had to be wary of Forest’s threat on the counter and from aerial balls. Sammy Ameobi nodded a Cyrus Christie cross just wide on 22 minutes, before Joe Lolley cut in from the right and struck low onto the post five minutes later.

Following that Forest flurry, normal service resumed but City still continued to find room in-between the Forest defence and midfield in short supply.

However, Chris Hughton’s side’s resistance was broken in the final minute of the first-half. Sorensen fed Marco Stiepermann in the area and his cross deflected off a Forest body and into the air – Sorensen was the most alert of the players on the pitch and he rifled the ball past Samba to give the Canaries a deserved lead at half-time.

That goal gave the game a more open feel in the second-half, with Forest keen to push higher up the pitch to force an equaliser.

City almost profited from that just minutes after the restart, with Stiepermann has a low strike destined for the bottom corner saved well by Samba. The rebound was crossed in by Pukki and Buendia swivelled but couldn't get a shot away.

Lolley then curled a free kick narrowly over before Pukki linked up well with Stiepermann but sent a low shot wide from a tight angle at the other end.

Forest's second change brought them an equaliser on 73 minutes. Knockaert had only been on the pitch a matter of minutes but his left-footed cross curled past the jumps of both City and Forest men in the box all the way into the far corner.

The scores were only level for five minutes, though. Farke brought on Alex Tettey and Todd Cantwell to change things up and the latter was involved straight away. He did well to create room for Buendia on the edge of the box and the Argentine's effort took a big deflection before heading into the bottom corner.

City navigated their way through the closing stages to record another important victory, and open up a 3 point lead at the top of the championship table, as they seek to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
