Daniel Ayala is a wanted man, with his loan period at Middlebro is soon to expire but Boro Boss Aitor Karanka wants to keep his fellow Spaniard at the Riverside Stadium beyond his current 93-day loan which is due to expire on January 25.

Ayala has started in 10 Championship matches and scored three goals for the club as Boro's fortunes have taken an upturn since the ex-Real Madrid number two took charge.

He has been an ever-present in Middlesbrough's last six matches and looks set to be given permission to appear in Boro's FA Cup third round clash against Hull.
