Closer to Edge of the Dog Fight after Wigan Defeat

A very scrappy game which failed to even get close to making a spark, the one one real shot on target went in, Lee Camp will be feeling a little down about it, he really should have saved that. Keepers should very rarely be beaten on the near post, but in saying that, there was enough time and space for challenges to have been made and fancy flicks should be left to being tried in the oppositions area, not the centre circle.

I have to be fair and say that Wigan are a very poor side, especially in defence, they were all at sea more than once during the game, but still we could not take or make any advantage, if I was to say we never looked like scoring I don't think I will be that far away.  You just knew that the longer it went on, that the first goal would be enough, Wigan looked the more likely as the game wore on.

We had the greatest share of possession, our build up play very good at times, it was again in that final part where passes went wrong players ran out of ideas; Johnson's shot on target that's about all I can remember.  This has been the biggest problem all season and even in pre season it could be seen,  I can't see it getting any better in the remaining games.

If you are looking at the league table with a little more concern then you can't be blamed,  look at Southampton having a torrid time early on,  they could not get a win against anyone, today they beat Chelsea to move above us.  Wigan another team who hadn't won at home for months are now within 4 points of catching us that's the same with Villa.   That is only one game away from being hauled into a dog fight over staying away from that final relegation spot.

We still have enough games to get the points, but a win is sorely needed to help calm the nerves
