Former Norwich Captain Andy 'Clappy' Hughes Appointed First Team Coach For Huddersfield

Former City midfielder & right back Andy Hughes is the new first-team coach at Norwich's Championship rivals Huddersfield Town.

The 38-year-old has spent the last three months working at Crystal Palace after leaving Town’s Championship rivals Rotherham United and was in the dug-out for last Saturday’s FA Cup final meeting with Manchester United.

Hughes, who made 79 appearances for City between July 2005 and August 2007, scoring two goals, will be working work alongside Town’s German head coach David Wagner and his assistant Christophe Buehler.

Hughes captained the Canaries during the 2006-07 season and went on to play over 100 games for Leeds before winding down his career at Scunthorpe and Charlton and eventually starting his coaching career at Bolton.

He became embroiled in an angry spat with a Canaries fan during a 4-1 defeat to Burnley at Carrow Road in September 2006, which brought an end to Nigel Worthington’s reign as City manager.
