Derby County have reportedly made an approach to Gary Rowett to become their new manager after sacking Steve McClaren last night.
The former Birmingham City boss is among the favourites for the Norwich City job, but it's understood that Derby are hoping to beat the Canaries to his signature.
Rowett used to play for Derby and still lives in the area, so Norwich may face a losing battle to convince him to join them instead.
In a recent poll on the ITV News Anglia website, Rowett was the man the majority of Norwich fans wanted to replace Alex Neil - earning 39% of the vote.
Ex-Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew is still the favourite with the bookies to take over at Carrow Road, although it's not believed that he is a candidate currently being considered by the Norwich board.
