Injury News: Ivo Pinto & Wes Hoolahan Winning Fitness Race

Good news! Norwich City duo Ivo Pinto and Wes Hoolahan are both reported to be targeting a return to full training next week.

The influential pair sat out City’s two-game German tour with hamstring and thigh injuries respectively and have trained away from the main group at their Marienfeld base.

Those who featured in the 3-1 win over DSC Arminia Bielefeld had a recovery session on Saturday morning before the whole squad return to England ahead of Tuesday’s next friendly against Charlton.

Fand favourite Ivo Pinto was initially set to be a major doubt for the Championship opener at Fulham on August 5, but head coach Daniel Farke delivered an upbeat bulletin after Friday’s 3-1 friendly win.

“Hopefully Wes (thigh) and Ivo (hamstring) will return next week. Probably not for Charlton but return to training,” said Farke. “It is important for them to get that physical base for the season. I am not sure Harry Toffolo (muscle) will be able to return this week coming but for sure the week after and I am looking forward to working with those guys.”

Farke allayed fears Cameron Jerome was the latest casualty after departing in the closing stages at Bielefeld with what Farke labelled a muscle problem.

“He had some muscle problems in the end because he was tired and he had done a lot of work,” he said. “Hopefully it is quite normal. After 70 exhausting minutes you feel quite tired. It is quite normal in pre-season.

“Cameron did a great job. He worked a lot for the squad and he was open to the tactical change we made in the game. He was very important for the penalty. He had several chances. He did a real good job.”

Timm Klose, Alex Pritchard and Louis Thompson remain longer term injury absentees and will definitely not be available for the start of the new Championship season.
