According to City Chairman Alan Bowkett says Paul Lambert is taking the club  to a tribunal looking for £2m for "unfair dismissal.”. 

I was under the impression Aston Villa asked permission to speak to Paul Lambert, this was denied l;eaving Lambert to tender his resignation.  He then left to take the managers job at Villa Park,  Villa representatives had spoken to Lambert's agent the week before, according to the Birmingham Mail.
