Let's hope this award proves not to be a curse this afternoon in the same way the manager of the month award is often talked about being.
The League Managers Association has handed Alex Neil & Norwich City its LG Performance of the Week Award for City's dramatic 3-2 win over Newcastle.
Decided by an five-man judging panel comprising of LMA chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, the performance was chosen as the best of the past week, with the match being settled in injury-time by a rare strike from left-back Martin Olsson, after Newcastle had twice cancelled out the home side’s lead, and the result helping Norwich to move an imopressive six points clear of the Magpies in the survival battle.
It is the second time City boss Alex Neil has won the award this season, having also been chosen following the 2-1 victory at Manchester United in December – the first Canaries win at Old Trafford in 26 years.
Alex Neil will receive a specially commissioned trophy to commemorate the award.
