According to a couple of rumour reports that City are watching very closely Adrian Mariappa, Watford's 25 year old denfender.  Being in the last year of his contract, Watford could be forced into selling before the player can walk away for  free.

Reading are the latest club to show a bit more interest having a recent bid of £2 million turned down,  Mariappa  rejected a deadline day move to Wigan Athletic in January and was also the subject of a failed bid from  Newcastle United earlier.  Southampton are said to be watching events also plus they have their eyes on another supposed City target  Chris Gunter at Nottingham Forest.
