Massive Performance

A very disciplined and professional display saw City come away from South Wales with a terrific 3 points, a phenominal first half saw then go into the break 3-0 up,  with goals from Whittaker, Bassong and Holt.

A second half onslaught was expected from the home side, Conceeding two goals too quickly allowed the Swans to draw close at 3-2,  then the teams determination and resilience shone through even more, given a free kick for a foul on Holt; ; Snodgrass curled a peach of a kick over the wall and into the bottom of the net.; to give a 2 goal cushion at 4-2.

Swansea pulled another one back deep into extra time, but it was too late to change the outcome, City hung on to record an excellent victory to become only the second club to come away with all the spoils.  The scoreline could have been far greater, Howson hit the post, Johnson the bar, he also went close with a sublime Volley, Swansea too hit the woodwork and had a goal ruled out for a foul on Bunn.

A run that now stretches back 9 games, this game must surely rank up there with best,  over the many years of following City, there have been times when I have had to pinch myself to see if this wasn't a dream, yesterday at half time was one of the those moments.

I foolishly judged Chris Hughton far too early in his reign, not that I wanted him out or anything, it was easy to get carried away with the glowing reports we heard from Birmingham and Newcastle, I wanted to see for myself what he would do with City.  Not all managers click with the same success at a new club as they had previously, after a very difficult start, he has gone about his business quietly, gelling, moulding  and adding to his group of players. The players have taken hold of just what Hughton wanted and bought into it fully and we are seeing the results of all that work.

I am more than glad to say I got that wrong,  we are now close to entering the usual difficult Christmas period , but we have nothing to fear, we have a return fixture with Chelsea, it will very interesting to see just how far the team has come since that 4-1 defeat  earlier.

Now isn't this all enough to Jingle your bells
