According to The Mail, our new manager is concerned already and while on holiday that he will lose out on a player, to his predecessor that probably even isn't on his own wanted list.
The Mail says
Chris Hughton is concerned that his predecessor as Norwich boss, Paul Lambert, will win the race to sign Kyle Naughton,
Norwich have contacted Tottenham about a £4m deal for Naughton after he spent last season on loan at Carrow Road but Lambert wants to make the 23-year old his first signing for Aston Villa.
I cannot for the life of me find where Chris Hughton has mentioned signing Kyle Naughton ( But who wouldn't want him here ? Not many I guess) As far as I recall Hughton is on holiday, packed away with all the data and DVD's on city's players and games. Plus he has said, that he will not be rushing into the transfer market until he has a better idea of what is squad is like.
We may have contacted Spurs about Naughton's availability and value, but I feel that was more likely to have been during the last window, when the previous manager made mention that he was priced too high for City.
Lambert is supposed to be interested in taking Naughton to Villa Park, as his first signing, so this week his first signing is to be Naughton, last week it was Holt followed by Ayala. I would imagine Lambert is interested in signing those he identified to the City board on his wanted list, and I have no doubts Naughton is quite high up on that list.
But the Mail writer has taken the following leaps in his thinking. Norwich wanted Naughton , they inquired about him once, Now Lambert wants him at Villa, so Hughton is bound to be concerned about losing the player.. Even though he may not be on Hughton's wanted listed,
