Norwich City 2- 1 Ipswich - Hospital Cup Victory For U-16s

Norwich City Under 16s managed by Norwich City legend and Hall Of Fame member Darren Huckerby won last in the friendly end of season charity match versus Ipswich Town

The trophy was originally contested by the Clubs' senior sides up until 1990, and returned as an Academy fixture last season after a 25-year absence as Graeme Murty led Norwich's youngsters to a 3-0 success at Portman Road.

Enjoying home advantage this time around, City rose to the task by producing an efficient and energetic display which saw them deservedly claim bragging rights for the second year in a row.

The hosts got off the perfect start when Glenn Middleton fired them in front superbly on seven minutes, but Town levelled soon after when Albert Wilton tucked home from close-range.

Both goalkeepers made a string of fine saves, before Anthony Spyrou's composed finish ensured the Canaries went into the interval ahead following a competitive first half.

Ipswich tested Norwich's defensive resolve early in the second period, but Darren Huckerby's side rose to the challenge presented to them by determinedly keeping their opponents at bay.

Such resilience was ultimately rewarded by victory, with goalkeeper Fergal Hale-Brown stooping low in injury-time to help his side close out the game with few major concerns.
