As a bit of timely good news for the club's long suffering supporters at present fit-again Norwich City duo Nelson Oliveira and Graham Dorrans are both in contention for Barnsley’s Championship visit.
Caretaker Norwich manager Alan Irvine delivered the positive injury news on Friday afternoon at Colney, with Oliveira recovering from a foot injury and Dorrans also back following a long term knee problem.
Both have trained all week and Irvine believes they are ready to be brought back in the first team fold to face the Reds. Oliveira had scored 12 goals in 23 outings season, including a thumping long range strike at Oakwell prior to Christmas, before damaging his foot against former loan club Nottingham Forest.
Dorrans has not played since suffering a freak knee ligament injury at Reading on Boxing Day.
“Nelson and Graham are both back in the squad,” confirmed Irvine. “That is great news on both fronts because they are important players for us. They have trained all week, and trained well all week. Dozzer has been out since December and Nelson had the suspension followed fairly soon by the injury. Prior to that they were playing well. The feeling was we would have a look at them over the course of this week and make a decision. Graham has done a lot of rehab work.
“We have a couple of injury and illness issues that we hope will be resolved by matchday. Unfortunately I have not been able to name the team, which I would normally do by this stage of the week, but I am waiting for confirmation on a couple of players really.
