Norwich City are set to win the race for defender Jerome Onguene, according to journalist Andrew Gibney on Twitter.
Onguene was spotted at Carrow Road watching Norwich’s clash with Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday evening, and Gibney has since stated that he is set to join Alex Neil’s side this summer.
Onguene is described by Gibney as “young”, “raw” and “good in the air”. The centre half was previously linked with Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, but Norwich appear to have won the race for his signature.
The French Under-19 international scored an own goal against England in the Under 19 European Championships, but was a key member of the France squad as they won the whole tournament.
The 18-year-old look set to join from French Ligue 2 outfit Sochaux, where he played 23 games last season despite his young age.
Gibney adds that although signing is a risk, but he is a talent and has the qualities to become a very good centre half for Norwich.
