NORWICH City began their preparations for the 2016-17 season with a gentle 2-1 victory over Walsall at St George's Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Canaries were largely dominant from the first whistle, fashioning a number of decent chances as they stretched their opponents well by using the width of the pitch.
Their efforts were duly rewarded on 24 minutes when Ryan Bennett bundled home Josh Murphy's left wing cross at the second time of asking.
Alex Neil shuffled his pack almost entirely after 45 minutes, with only half-hour introduction Declan Rudd remaining for the early stages of the second period.
Walsall made the brighter start at the resumption of play, and levelled on 55 minutes when Theo Vassell headed home from a corner.
City wasted little time in responding however, going back in front soon after as Cameron Jerome flicked Graham Dorran's corner into the roof of the net.
They were able to control proceedings for the remainder of the match, only being prevented from further extending their lead by some dogged and last ditch Walsall defending.
