So, yesterday as many city fans had been asking for a while now John Ruddy was finally dropped after one glaring error too many and his understudy got to show us what he is made of in a rare senior appearance for Declan Rudd,
Whilst one swallow doesn't make a summer, Rudd clearly showed yesterday he was ready to take his chance with both hands - something Ruddy has struggled to do with a football a few times recently.
Without an on form Rudd yesterday who could have done nothing to stop either Watford goal, the result could have been far worse, 4 or 5 would have been a distinct possibility with Rudd pulling off a string of good stops and looking in control all afternoon.
Rudd, now 24 and originally from Diss has been with the club since joining the youth team in 1999 at the tender age of 8, and it is good to see an academy prospect come through that looks like he could hold his own in the Premiership, and whilst it is early days hopefully Declan will now get a run of games and a chance to finally prove his worth to the 1st team.
What yesterday did prove in my eyes and that of many City supporters i'm sure, is that City are not good enough full stop and contrary to popular belief it's not all down to John Ruddy!
