Not wanting to be seen as only putting keyboard to electronic paper when City play badly, I thought i had better make a comment or two about the latest round of games for our yellow team. Although not seeing anything of the game except the goals, i am not attempting to write a report.
If Derby County are promotion favourites then City have little to worry about if they can maintain this current fom, OK the Umbrella Man went to great lengths to stress how hard done his team were in preparation for this top clash of the day. Yea they lost to Middlesbro and played chelsea in the carling cup, that is part and parcel of the game, you stay in Cup competitions you expect to play games, and losing a game is hardly an excuse, City lost to the same side along with Forest and Reading. I just fear we are hearing simple excuses for a failing side.
Derby were on their home soil, where they have seen off many teams this season, but we out played for long periods of the game and can count themselves very fortunate to get something from the game, a very dubious penalty given way out wide from the goal, a handball and a trip not seen by the ref, talk about selective vision.
Not being content still, MaClarean then points his umbrella to the richness of City's squad as another excuse, of his teams faltering challenge sour grapes springs to my mind
It would seem Adams and Co have hit upon the set up that does draw results, many will shout the odds that it is all Phelan behind this up turn, but in truth who bloody cares who is behind it as long as it keeps working by hauling in the points and goals. A few weeks back Gary ONeill made mention of players making decisions to chase back 70 yards or so to get a tackle in stopping a goal scoring chsnce, I heard that Jerome did just that on saturday, a little bit reminiscent of Grant Holt. Determination is back....The Belief is back
The team has found some belief in themselves, they have a set up they can play to which it is reaping rewards, so instead of bleating on and on about the manager inexperience or whatever takes your fancy to knock Adam. enjoy what is happening and get behind them all. players and coaching staff. Look what an experienced management team did for us last season.
Talking of Neil Adams , I found it revealing what Cameron Jerome had to say the other day regarding his manager:
“It helps massively to have a manager who believes in you and wants you to succeed,” he said( Jerome). “He has come through the system and made that transition to management and he is enthusiastic about people wanting to learn and better themselves. Neil was a big part of me coming here and I feel the club have treated me fantastically well. I have been enjoying my football and I think my performances show I am happy and settled.”
Personally that is enough said
