Transfer News: Tottenham Confirm Skipp To Stay On Loan At Norwich Until End Of Season

Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has stated that he has no intention of recalling Oliver Skipp from his loan spell with Norwich City, with the Portuguese telling Football London that he’s happy with the player’s progress with the Canaries.

The young central midfielder was given an opportunity to hone his undoubted talent away from North London, with Norwich winning the race to sign the player back in August of last year in what is the 20-year-old’s first ever temporary switch away from him boyhood club.

Skipp has largely impressed for Daniel Farke’s side, appearing in 23 league games to date as the Canaries have ascended to the top of the Championship standings.

Asked if he would be looking to recall the player this month after his good form, Mourinho was quick to play down such talk:

“In a selfish perspective it would be good to bring him back now, but we’re not selfish. The players are very important. The future is very important the best thing for him is to finish the season there.

“Very successful loan for us and also for Norwich. We’re very happy that he’s playing and he’s playing well. He’s playing to win and to win titles so he has that pressure on him too.

“He’s playing two or three matches a week so there’s also a physical development. Next season he’s back, but we believe that for this season we think it’s best for him to stay at Norwich and he’s also very happy with that.”

Having originally made his debut for Spurs back in 2019, Skipp is viewed a s a great prospect by the club’s hierarchy and currently has a contract with them until 2024.
