Norwich City striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel has joined Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem for an undisclosed fee.
The 27-year-old signed for the Canaries in a club record £8.5 million deal from Sporting Lisbon back in 2013 but only scored two goals in all competitions for the club.
van Wolfswinkel was loaned out to St Étienne and Real Betis in recent seasons but failed to earn a permanent deal at either club.
He has now returned to Vitesse where he started his career.
“Vitesse is the club of my youth,” he told his new club’s official site. “I also debuted in professional football on behalf of Vitesse and something you never forget. After several foreign adventures I look forward to returning to the Dutch fields. I hope to find my niche and want to play well and as many goals and assists are important for Vitesse.”
Van Wolfswinkel had been allocated the number 13 shirt for his new club.
