HITC Sport is this afternoon reporting that it understands Burnley have made an enquiry for the Norwich midfielder, who is also being chased by his old club Leeds.
Burnley are hoping to beat Leeds United to the signing of Norwich City midfielder Johnny Howson, HITC Sport claims from sources close to the club.
Norwich are reluctantly willing to listen to offers for Howson as they look to raise funds for their own transfer plans this summer.
Howson, who still has two years to run on his deal at Carrow Road, made 39 appearances last season, scoring six goals and contributing eight assists.
Leeds have been linked with making a move to bring former Whites captain and boyhood fan Howson back to Elland Road, but Burnley are aiming to steal a march on their rivals by luring the player to Turf Moor.
Burnley are in the market for midfield reinforcements this summer after Joey Barton was released at the end of the season following his ban for 18 months by the Football Association for betting offences.
Burnley have made their interest in Howson known to Norwich, but they have yet to make a firm offer for the 29-year-old.
Burnley, who finished in 16th spot in the Premier League last season, hope the lure of playing in the top-flight will give them the edge in the chase for Howson.
