According to the Pink'un this afternoon former Club Brugge forward Pierre Fonkeu has reportedly agreed a deal with Norwich City after a successful development trial.
The 20-year-old Belgian scored on City’s recent German tour for Matt Gill’s Under-23s in the win over SC Rot-Weiß Oberhausen. The bustling striker was on trial for the past few weeks with ex-Liverpool midfielder Adam Phillips and Hitchin centre back Will Wright.
Academy chief Richard Money and sporting director Stuart Webber were both in Germany to watch the trio and Gill made it clear a final decision on whether to offer deals would be made when the squad returned to England.
Fonkeu had come through the youth system of Club Brugge and was recently linked with a host of English clubs, including City, Stoke, Sunderland, Derby and Wolves. The U23s will form a Norwich City XI which takes on National League side Sutton United on Friday as they step up preparations for the new Premier League Two season.
