Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur are claimed to be competing with Leeds United and Newcastle United for Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell, according to The Sun.
The British tabloid has claimed that Tottenham, Newcastle, Leeds, AS Roma and Leicester City all are interested in signing Cantwell from Norwich this month in the transfer window.
The Canaries are widely claimed to be willing to sell the 23-year-old now, but they want £15 million in transfer fees, and the 23-year-old knows the Premier League and has done relatively well for the Canaries in the division.
Moreover, Cantwell is quite young, so there is still some room for improvement and development in his game.
The former England Under-21 international has made five starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Canaries so far this season.
Cantwell – described as “an exceptional, exceptional player” by former Norwich striker Chris Sutton on BBC Radio 5 Live in June 2020 – has scored six goals in 45 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
Tottenham could do with more dynamism in their midfield, and, in our view, Cantwell would not be a bad option to have for head coach Antonio Conte.
