Brighton & Hove Albion are lining up a move for Norwich City defender Russell Martin according to a number of internet based rumours doing the rounds at the moment, all seemingly eminating from the ever popular 'a source close to the club' but it wouldn't be totally implausible, would it?
Brighton boss, Chris Hughton knows Martin well, from his two years as Norwich manager and is said to be an admirer. They also suggest that Lewis Dunk may leave the Seagulls for the Premier League and that versatile Martin is seen by the management team on the south coast as an ideal replacement.
Martin is 30 now and seems to have lost that bit of pace that saw him named the 'Norfolk Cafu' for his barnstorming runs and regular goals from right back.
To my mind though, his versatility is still an asset at this level and I would prefer to keep him. Doesn't Hughton want Seb Bassong instead?
