Club Identity

  • Nickname: The Canaries
  • Colours: Yellow and green
  • Stadium: Carrow Road (capacity ~27,000)
  • Rivalry: Biggest rivals are Ipswich Town (the East Anglian Derby).

Foundation & Early Years (1902–1930s)

  • Founded: 1902
  • Originally played in the Southern League.
  • Turned professional in 1905.
  • Moved to Carrow Road in 1935, which has been the club’s home ever since.

The club were then elected into the Football League in 1920. And went on to get national attention with a famous FA Cup semi-final run in 1959, reaching the last four as a third-division team.

The Canaries then went on to win the League Cup three times, in 1962 beating Rochdale to lift the trophy.  And then again in 1973 beating Tottenham Hotspur. Lifing the trophy for the third time in 1985.

Their next historic moment was then in the 1993 - 1994 season, going on a run in the UEFA cup, beating Bayern Munich 2–1 away and becoming in the process the only English club to beat Bayern in Munich.

Since then the club have been promoted to the Premier Division a number of time including in 2011, 2015, 2019 and 2021.  Although each time they have struggled to have a long run in the top flight before being relegated back to the Championship again.

The club has a reputation developed over time for developing good young players, often ones spotted initially in the lower leagues.  The club are also well known for having a strong home support and playing an attacking positive style of football.
