Transfer Rumour: Todd Cantwell Believed To Be Villas No.1 Choice To Replace Grealish

Aston Villa are expected to pursue their interest in Norwich midfielder Todd Cantwell, should Jack Grealish's transfer to Manchester City be finalised according to Sky Sports News reports.

There has yet to be official contact made between Villa and last season's Championship winners, but Norwich are aware of the interest.

With less than two weeks to go until the start of the Premier League season, Norwich do not want to lose Cantwell and it would take a significant bid for them to consider letting him go.

Norwich have a good relationship with Villa after they negotiated the sale of Emiliano Buendia in June.

Cantwell has entered the final year of his contract, although Norwich do have the option to extend the 23-year-old's deal for a further year.

Norwich Midfielder Todd Cantwell On His Champions League Ambitions

Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell has spoken about wanting to to play in the Champions League.

The Canaries have reportedly put a £40m price tag on Cantwell, who is being targeted by Aston Villa as a replacement for Manchester City target Jack Grealish.

And locally born and bred Cantwell has admitted he still has lofty ambitions for his football career.

"I've always thought that if you set your ambitions to the very top, then if you fall off you are in a good place," Cantwell said, speaking to the Beyond the Ball YouTube channel.

"I would love to play in the Champions League and anyone would love to play for their country at senior level.

"For me, I really want to try and get to the best level possible and if I can't get there then hopefully I will be in a good place."

Transfer Rumour: Norwich Reportedly Open Talks With Bournemouth Over Philip Billing

Norwich City have opened discussions with Bournemouth over a move for 25-year-old midfielder Philip Billing, according to reports.

Billing has made 79 appearances for the Cherries since joining from Huddersfield Town in July 2019, including playing for then 34 times in the Championship last season, and netting eight goals, as The Cherries reached the play-offs.

Bournemouth's Premier League dream was ended by Brentford, who went on to gain promotion by beating Swansea City in the final, and It looks like Billing could soon be returning to the top flight as well, albeit with a new team for the new season.

Football Insider claims that Norwich are hoping to sign him and have entered talks over a deal.

A new central midfielder is top of their summer wish list, even though they completed the signing of Billy Gilmour on loan recently.

The Canaries want a player who has experience competing in the Prem, and Billing fits that criteria.

He could soon be the subject of an official bid from the newly-promoted side.

Norwich’s finances have been boosted by the sale of Emi Buendia to Aston Villa. The Argentinian playmaker registered 32 goal contributions last term but was sold to bring in funds ahead of the new campaign.

It’s not yet known whether Bournemouth would allow Billing to leave. He is contracted at the Vitality stadium until June 2024, which means they will not be forced into a sale.

The Cherries would be looking to recoup all of the £15million they paid for him two years ago.

Transfer Rumour: Norwich lining up move for PAOK winger Christos Tzolis

Norwich City are reported to be considering a club-record transfer bid in an attempt to sign PAOK winger Christos Tzolis, Football Insider has reported.

The Canaries have returned to the Premier League after a single campaign in the Championship last year, and they have shown significantly more ambition in the transfer market than their previous promotion season.

In 2018/19, the hierarchy were content to stick with the options in the first-team squad, and they paid the price as they were relegated without a fight.

They are keen to avoid a similar repeat next season but have ground to make after sanctioning the sale of Emiliano Buendia to Aston Villa.

Todd Cantwell has also been fancied to make the switch to Villa Park, and the club need to bring in quality replacements to avoid another drop.

Milot Rashica was recently added to the ranks as Buendia’s replacement, and they now have their sights on landing Greek sensation Tzolis.

The 19-year-old had a top campaign for PAOK last season, registering 16 goals and 10 assists from 46 appearances across all competitions.

He has been linked with Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund, but the Canaries are fancied to sign him in a club-record deal worth £10 million.

Norwich City are set go back in with a renewed £12 million bid for Kristoffer Ajer.

The newly-promoted Premier League side has already had a number of bids rejected, as have German side Bayer Leverkusen, for the Norwegian international.

The Canaries have made a central defender a priority and Ajer has been a long-term target.

They are ready to make a bid with future add-ons built in.

Ajer, 23, is in the last year of his contract and Celtic will need to sell in this window if they want to maximise their return, having bought the Norwegian international for a bargain six figure fee in 2016 from IK Start.
