Transfer News: Norwich Put £30m+ Price Tag On Top Stars

Norwich City sporting director Stuart Webber has warned clubs looking to sign some of the Canaries’ top stars that a fee of at least £30m will be needed to prise them away.

The Yellows have had a fine year and head back to the Premier League in great shape, with them now looking to build this summer and ensure they stay in the top flight for several years to come.

It’s a well-run club that is financially sound and that has laid the foundations to mean that they are in a position of strength when it comes to clubs looking to sign their players.

Emi Buendia has been linked with Arsenal and Aston Villa, for example, whilst Max Aarons has seen the likes of Newcastle United, Everton and Tottenham touted as interested in him.

And, that said, it’s clear that whoever comes in for them will need to be willing to spend big.

Speaking to the BBC, Webber explained:

“If we do sell one, it’s going to be a club-record deal.

“It’s probably going to start with a number three in front of it and that will give us great opportunities to maybe make the whole better as well. We’re really relaxed on that front.”

Transfer Rumour: Norwich City Links To Celtic's Ryan Christie Continue

Norwich City linked midfielder Ryan Christie from Celtic is now also being targeted by Southampton, as per claims appearing in The Sun on Sunday (30.05.21, pg. 59).  With Celtic now facing a battle to keep hold of the highly rated Scottish international in the summer transfer window.

Christie, who is 26 years old, has been recently linked with Norwich and Burnley, as reported by the Scottish Sun, but reportedly Southampton are now in the running as well as the race for the player hots up.

His contract with the Glasgow team is currently set to expire in January so they may opt to cash in on him over the summer instead of losing him for nothing in 2022.

Norwich are currently preparing for life back in the Premier League after winning the Championship title with relative ease this season.

Daniel Farke’s Canaries are in need of some reinforcements and Christie is someone who would boost their midfield department which currently only has one fit senior player likely to be ready for the start of the new season.

Christie has been on the books at Celtic since 2015 and has been a key player for the Scottish Premiership giants, scoring 41 goals in 141 games for them to date.

He has helped the Hoops win all the trophies they can do during his time at Celtic Park and may fancy a crack at English football now.

Christie started his career at Inverness Caledonian Thistle and broke into their first-team as a youngster before going on to play 76 times for the Highlands club, chipping in with 10 goals.

Celtic came calling six years ago and he established himself as a regular in their side after a loan spell away at Aberdeen.

Transfers: Norwich Defender Phillip Heise Closing In On Permanent Exit

Norwich City defender Phillip Heise is closing in on a permanent switch to German side Karlsruher SC following his loan spell with the club this season, according to the Eastern Daily Press.

Heise has not been able to have much of an impact at all at Carrow Road since he made the move to Norwich from Dynamo Dresden in January 2019.

The left-back has only managed to feature once for the Canaries and that came in a surprising 1-0 defeat against Crawley Town in the Carabao Cup at the start of the 2019/20 campaign.

The defender did appear in the matchday squad a handful of times in the Premier League for Norwich, but he was then sent out on loan to Nuremberg and helped the German outfit remain in the second tier.

He has spent the current campaign out on loan with Karlsruher where the left-back has managed to make 29 appearances and scored one goal and provided five assists.

According to reports featuring in the Eastern Daily Press, Karlsruher’s sporting director has informed local media that the club are closing in on a move to re-sign Heise this summer.

It is believed that Norwich are looking for a permanent deal for the defender rather than another loan. While Daniel Farke’s side are also keen to shift on other first team outcasts on permanent deals as well.

Transfer Rumour: Norwich Interested In Espanyol Attacker Adrián Embarba

Norwich City and Watford are among a host of clubs that are claimed to be keeping tabs on Espanyol’s Adrián Embarba.

The versatile attacker, who can play down the flanks or centrally, has enjoyed a great season for the La Liga 2 outfit, scoring nine goals and registering 14 assists as the side secured an automatic return to the top-flight.

Such form has caught the eye, with Spanish outlet AS revealing that the newly-promoted duo are set to join the likes of Wolves, West Ham, Betis and Levante for the 29-year-old.

It’s unclear what sort of fee that Espanyol would demand for the player, although they paid Rayo Vallecano around €10m when they brought Embarba in during the January 2020 transfer window.

Interestingly though, the report claims that the player wants to stay at Espanyol following their promotion, although the update states that he wants a new deal that reflects his importance in the squad, with the interested clubs set to offer him a big increase if he does leave.

Both the Hornets and the Canaries are sure to be prioritising attacking additions as they prepare for life back in the Premier League.

Transfer Rumour: Norwich City Make Enquiry For Forest Defender Joe Worrall

Norwich City and West Ham United have both made enquiries about Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall, according to reports appearing online and in The Sun.

Worrall has been a Nottingham Forest player for a decade now, having originally signed for the club’s youth academy in 2011 after snubbing local rivals Derby County.

Since returning from a loan spell at Scottish giants Rangers in the 2018/19 season, Worrall has become a key member of the Nottingham Forest squad.

Since the start of the 2019/20 season, Worrall has made 77 appearances for the Tricky Trees in the Championship.  During this time his performances in the second tier have caught the attention of West Ham and newly-promoted Norwich City, who have both enquired about the defender.

Apart from the Hammers and the Canaries, Burnley have also shown an interest in the defender as the Clarets are in the market for a centre-back.

With Worrall keen on playing in the Premier League next season, this could well accelerate the defender’s departure from the City Ground in the summer.

Transfer News: Basel Opt Against Permanent Deal For Timm Klose

Experienced Norwich City defender Timm Klose will be returning to Carrow Road for pre-season after Basel opted not to take a permanent option up on him, the Swiss club confirmed.

Klose joined Norwich back in January 2016 when they were in the Premier League, but he could not help save the Canaries from relegation and for the next three seasons he played a regular part in attempts to get out of the Championship.

The Swiss centre-back suffered a bad knee injury at the start of the 2019-20 campaign though, which restricted him to just seven Premier League outings and the decision was made to loan him back to Basel in his native country back in October.

The 33-year-old played 28 times in the league for the club, scoring twice, but they’re opting not to turn the loan deal into a permanent one.

And with Klose still having a year left on his Norwich contract, he could potentially be re-introduced into the fold now that the Canaries are back in the Premier League.

Transfer Rumour: Arsenal step up interest in Emiliano Buendia

Arsenal are set to step up their interest in Norwich City playmaker Emiliano Buendia as Mikel Arteta looks to replace Martin Odegaard in the summer, according to a report in England.

Website Goal, as quoted by The Daily Mail, is reporting that the Gunners are already turning their thoughts towards possible replacements for Odegaard ahead of the Norway international’s expected return to Real Madrid.

The same article states that Odegaard appears likely to return to Real Madrid this summer despite the north London side’s interest in securing a permanent deal for the 22-year-old.

According to the same story, Arsenal are looking at Buendia as a potential signing to improve their creative options in the middle of the park ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.  The Daily Mail go on to add that Arsenal technical director Edu has registered the north London side’s interest in signing Buendia in the summer transfer window.  The media outlet add that Buendia is a primary target for Arsenal ahead of the 2021 summer transfer window but the Gunners haven’t made a concrete offer for the Norwich midfielder.

Buendia has scored 14 times and has made 17 assists in 39 games in the Championship this term.

The Argentinian playmaker has scored 24 times in 121 games in all competitions since his move to Norwich from La Liga outfit Getafe in 2018.
