Josh Sargent Dropped & Training With 2nd Team Due To Disciplinary Issues

Norwich City's head coach Philippe Clement has confirmed this afternoon at his pre match press conference that Josh Sargent will not be involved in the Championship game at Wrexham on Saturday due to disciplinary reasons.

The US international missed last weekend's FA Cup win against Walsall after texting Clement the night before saying he was 'unavailable'.

The Belgian has said Sargent's actions were "unacceptable" and he has been told to train with the second team.

"I'm not going into details about what this is about and what the future will be because I don't have a crystal ball - but he knows why he is training with the second team and we will see how it evolves in the future," Clement told BBC Radio Norfolk.

Sargent has scored 56 goals for the Canaries in 157 games and the club had said he will not be sold during this month's transfer window unless their valuation was met, following reports linking him with Major League Soccer side Toronto FC.

But Clement said: "In football, you can never say never. If somebody comes tomorrow to pay £100m for Josh, he will go. Saying no to everything will not be the case, but only if it's something that's a win situation for the club (will he leave).

"What's really important in this situation is we're in a relegation battle, so that was clear in this transfer window that we don't have any intentions to sell Josh."

Transfer Rumour: Nottingham Forest Joining Chase For Josh Sargent

Norwich City striker Josh Sargent has  reportedly been added to Nottingham Forest’s shortlist of forwards that they are looking at for this transfer window, according to a report from The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath.

Their fresh interest in Josh Sargent follows news of a bid last weekend from Toronto FC that was understood to be in the region of £13.4m – which led to Philippe Clement dropping the dissapointing news after the home FA up clash with Walsall that the 25-year-old USA international had made himself unavailable for selection for the game.

Despite the actions of Sargent, the Canaries head coach has been insistent in the message that his star striker will not be leaving this month.

It’s no surprise seeing several teams join the queue for the services of Sargent. The Norwich City striker has been a striker difficult to stop at Championship level since the Canaries returned to the second-tier.

With Nottingham Forest joining Toronto in the chase for their star striker, it will mean that NCFC will be in no rush to let Sargent leave with plenty of time in the transfer window still remaining to ensure they receive maximum value possible for their number one asset.

Transfer Rumour: Norwich battling Celtic & Crystal Palace for Irish Defender Vinnie Leonard

Norwich City are rivalling Celtic and Crystal Palace for the signing of Dundalk's 17 year old central defender Vinnie Leonard.

Dundalk’s 17-year-old centre-back Vinnie Leonard is fast becoming hot property with journalist Pete O’Rourke now revealing that there is widespread transfer interest in the Irish U18s star, with Championship club Norwich City among those interested.

O’Rourke explains that Premier League duo Brighton and Crystal Palace are both also interested in the young Irish breakout star, along with Scottish giants Celtic and then NCFC, though how strong the Canaries’ interest is in Leonard remains to be seen.

Not masses is known about Leonard right now, given his age and how inexperienced he remains. He’s in his first season playing for Dundalk’s first-team where he’s so far played 34 Division 1 games for the league leaders, scoring three goals from centre-back.

He has also represented Ireland at U16s, 17s and 18s level, with five caps for the U18s, with all of his caps for the U18s coming in international friendlies. He has however played in the U17s World Cup for Ireland, playing out in Qatar last year.

Done Deal: Norwich U-21 Striker Dylan Jones Joins Tranmere On Loan

Tranmere Rovers have signed forward Dylan Jones from Championship side Norwich City on loan until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old joined Norwich last season following a trial and has yet to feature at senior level for the Canaries.  He has, however, been named in their matchday squad on three occasions during the latter stages of the 2024-25 season.

"It feels brilliant. Obviously, Tranmere's a great club. I know a lot about it, so I'm buzzing. I can't wait to bring my attributes to the team," he said.

"I'm an off-the-shoulder striker. I like to run in behind. I work hard. I definitely put everything out there for the team and just use my pace in behind and score goals.

"Norwich think I'm ready for the step and ready for League Two football. I needed a loan to get myself some first-team football experience, and I think this is the perfect place to do so."

Done Deal: Norwich Complete Signing Of Irish Teenage Winger Luke Chukwu

Norwich City have snapped up teenage winger Luke Chukwu from St Patrick’s Athletic.

The Ireland underage international has signed a contract until the end of the 2027/28 season, with the option of a further year.

He will go straight into the Canaries’ academy set-up, where he is expected to get game-time with the Championship side’s Under-18 and Under-21 teams.

The 18-year-old hailed the move, saying: “I feel brilliant. It's a long time coming, but I'm glad the deal is done now and I'm ready to kick on.

“I just felt that for me it was the best pathway. I felt when I came here, everyone was so warm and welcoming and the pathway was perfect for me.

“I want to try and play as much as possible, score as many goals and assists as possible and hopefully that takes me where it should take me.”

A former Bohemians academy prospect, he moved to Pat’s in 2024 and was part of a hugely successful Under-17 side.

The League of Ireland outfit confirmed Chukwu’s move, posting: “We can confirm the transfer of winger Luke Chukwu to Championship side Norwich City.

Transfer Rumour: Norwich Tracking West Ham's Andy Irving

Reports have surfaced today in the EDP that Norwich City have been scouting West Ham's Andy Irving in their quest for midfield reinforcements following Mirko Topic's season ending injury

Irving fits the profile of this central midfield role as the Canaries aim to add to ease the load on first choice duo Kenny McLean and Pelle Mattsson.

The 25-year-old left footer has only played seven minutes of Premier League football for the Hammers since late October, and is now in the final six months of his current deal.

Irving, who was an unused substitute for West Ham's FA Cup extra-time win over QPR on Sunday, is believed to be attracting interest from Championship rivals, and clubs abroad after a previous spell in Austria.

Sunderland Amongst Premiership Clubs Interested In Gabriel Sara In January

Sunderland have been linked with former Norwich City fans favourite Gabriel Sara, with a fresh report from Turkey claiming the North East team are among a number of Premiership clubs monitoring the Galatasaray midfielder’s situation.

The claim comes from Turkish sports journalist Yakup Çınar, who first reported on X that Sara’s agent is due to meet Galatasaray officials this week, with both Sunderland and Fulham described as “seriously interested” in the player. He said: "Gabriel Sara's agent will be coming this week to meet with the management. Fulham and Sunderland are seriously interested in the player."

He made his name in England with Norwich City, where he developed into one of the Championship’s standout midfielders. Signed originally by the Canaries from São Paulo in 2022 for a feww of around £6million plus add-ons, the Brazilian central midfielder quickly became a key figure at Carrow Road. His performances earned him Norwich’s Player of the Season award in 2023, as well as a place in the Championship Team of the Season the following year, after also being named Player of the Month in August 2023.

That form then encouraged Galatasaray to make their move last summer, with the Turkish giants going on to sign Sara on a five-year contract in August 2024. Since then, he has featured regularly in the Süper Lig and has already made an impact in high-profile fixtures, including scoring away against fierce rivals Fenerbahçe in the Intercontinental Derby.

From a Sunderland perspective, his profile is an interesting one. Sara is technically strong, comfortable in possession, and capable of contributing goals and assists from midfield, all qualities that would align with Régis Le Bris’ tactical demands that he places on his team. His previous success in English football would also reduce the adaptation risk often associated with overseas signings.
