Norwich City are reported to be set to hold talks with David Wagner over their vacant head coach role, a report published in The Sun has stated today.
The Canaries are currently looking for a new boss following the sacking of Dean Smith last Tuesday, which came after a run of just three wins and seven defeats in 13 Championship games, and amidst significant fan unrest at the overall performance and playing style of the team.
Now it seems as though that could potentially open the door for Wagner to make a return to English football.
According to this latest update, Norwich are set to hold talks with Wagner about him taking over from Smith at Carrow Road, with the 51-year-old understood to be a strong contender for the role.
The German coach has a pastrelatonship with Norwich sporting director Stuart Webber, the pair having previously worked together at Huddersfield, who Wagner guided to promotion to the Premier League in 2016/17.
Although he kept them in the top-flight the following season, he was then sacked in January 2019 with the Terriers heading rapisly towards relegation back to the Championship.
Since then, Wagner has had a spell working in his home country with Schalke, before more recently taking charge of Young Boys of Bern in Switzerland, who he left in March 2022.
